How do I obtain a Psychiatrist Diagnose? If you think you might have ADHD If you suspect that you may have ADHD, make an appointment with a GP and let them know about your suspicions. If your GP takes you seriously and is willing to refer you to a specialist, they should place you on the NHS waiting list for an ADHD assessment. This should include an interview with a psychiatrist, and ideally, some psychological assessments. It is sometimes helpful to have someone else present for support, but it's not required. They will look for evidence that you have the right criteria to receive an ADHD diagnosis.
